Xiaomi Mi Watch: a small smartphone on your wrist

Xiaomi has officially presented its first smartwatch: a device called Mi Watch that resembles the popular Apple Watch by its design.

Qu Heng, ecosystem chief manager of Xiaomi, said that the majority of the smartwatch on the market are, in fact, large smart bracelets, which only look like watches. But Mi Watch is going to change it.

The smartwatch uses a 1.78-inch diagonal AMOLED display with a pixel density of 326 PPI. The back of the device is made of ceramic, the screen is covered with sapphire crystal. The frame is made of brushed aluminum alloy which is scratch resistant and there is a wheel on it to control the interface.

The watch is available in silver and elegant black colors. Removable rubber straps do not cause allergies and there are also several color options, including white, blue, silver and black.

An exclusive edition of watches will also appear on the market: the front part is “covered” with a sapphire crystal that has passed 50 levels of processing and 25 days of grinding, a polished stainless steel frame, and a stainless steel strap.

Also, the exclusive version has a built-in magnetic charger and a laser engraving on the case. Its release will be limited to 30,000exemplars worldwide.

Xiaomi Mi Watch was the first in the world to receive a Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 4G processor. The watch supports multifunctional NFC and satellite positioning using GPS. The latest eSIM technology, which is an electronic analog of SIM cards, makes it easy to make calls from a watch.

Excellent battery life should be provided by a 570 mAh battery. According to the manufacturer, the watch works for 36 hours, i.e. almost two days without recharging.

The watch received the Wear OS operating system and offers a wide selection of watch faces.

The built-in application store offers to download more than 40 applications that are deeply adapted to the device. The Mi Watch got an open ecosystem that will allow third-party developers to create new applications.

The watch has a built-in European motion tracking algorithm that has been certified by leading sports event management agencies. The Mi Watch supports pressure, sleep, heart rate, and body energy monitoring.

Prices

The initial price tag for the new watch is 1299 yuan ($185), the price of the exclusive version is 1999 yuan ($285) and it will not appear on the market until December.
