Xiaomi Mi Watch smartwatch can get new Wear OS fromGoogle

For now, Xiaomi did not have any devices with Wear OS in their model row, but soon the situation may change.

Wear OS is a special version of Google’s Android operating system designed for smartwatches and other wearable devices.

According to 9to5Google, the latest version of Wear OS – 2.28 contains lines of code that indicate that Xiaomi is going to release a wearable device with this operating system. The code contains mentioning of Xiaomi Companion Name, Mi Wear and Mi Watch.

While most Wear OS watches generally run through Google’s companion smartphone app, we have seen some smartwatch makers also produce their companion apps to add extra functionality.

Xiaomi has managed to be a leader in the niche of fitness trackers with the Mi Band, so it may achieve the same result with smartwatches on the Wear OS.

At the moment there are no details about the design and characteristics of the Xiaomi Mi Watch. But we may assume that Xiaomi will continue to adhere to its pricing policy.

In the meantime, we can only wait for the release of the new device by heads of the Xiaomi company.
