Garmin introduced a new addition to its MARQ sports smartwatch line. The MARQ Commander model cannot be called “ordinary”. The watch is more like a device from a spy blockbuster.
The watch is made of premium materials. The case is made of titanium with a special coating, and the display is protected by sapphire crystal. There are also different types of straps to choose from in nylon and silicone, both suitable for wrists of 135 to 213 mm.
Continuing the “spy” theme, the most interesting feature of the new smartwatch is an actual button that wipes out all personal data. Called Stealth Mode, the feature immediately turns of GPS position sharing, wireless connectivity, communication, and deletes all data gathered in the memory.
Garmin MARQ Commander received a 1.2-inch touch screen with a resolution of 240×240 pixels, 32 GB of flash memory, GPS module, barometer, accelerometer, and thermometer. In addition to navigation, date and time, the watch also keeps track of various fitness information, including steps taken, distance and calories burned.
The exact battery capacity is not known yet, but the battery life is stated of 12 days with GPS turned off. The watch got water-resistant at 10 ATM.
The device is compatible with Android and iOS. The recorded information can be synchronized with a smartphone.
If you are considering buying the Commander version, you better have $1,950 laying around, because that’s the base price of a Garmin MARQ smartwatch.
